In the master bathroom and dressing room, pink-and-white floor tiles were found hidden under ’70s shag carpeting.
"This is our fourth project with this client and we’ve been able to create something special for the inhabitants and their visitors, immersing them in the feeling of living within a rainforest," says MIM Design’s principal Miriam Fanning.
Subway tiles have been laid in a vertical pattern in the bathroom to echo the height of the palm trees just outside this area.
The annex houses a bathroom and two bedrooms.
In the bathroom, skylights have been placed in the existing roofline to bring in more natural light. A glass partition and frameless mirror visually expand the space.

The children floor
The original beams, walls, and foundational structures of the buildings have been refreshed, and washed-out concrete has been selected for the floors, kitchen counters, and basins.
Floor-to-ceiling glass doors frame the gorgeous outdoor views.
This bright bedroom has a monochromatic bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower that is covered in sleek subway tiles.
In the bathroom, the vanity and sink are by Duravit.
The two bathrooms feature gorgeous Carrara marble wall tiles.
A clean master bathroom palette was embellished with a stylish area rug.
The fourth-floor hall bathroom has double faucets over a large trough sink, a custom vanity, and black penny-round tiled floors. A pocket door separates the sink area from the tub and toilet.
Low-maintenance, sustainable materials were favored throughout the house. Striking orange Pirelli studded rubber floors were chosen for the main bathroom. Clean white fixtures and black shower cladding complete the graphic space.
The areas outside of the boxes serve as terraces and gardens.
Built-in wooden storage and shelving systems keep the interior clutter-free.
Glazed, sliding partitions are used to separate or connect the rooms and functional zones. This makes the interiors adaptable enough for a variety of programs.
Luxury finishes in the bathroom include heated floors, Flos lights, Moen fixtures, and graphic tiles from Anne Saks.
The aqua field tiles in the powder room echo the colors of the Pacific Ocean nearby.
"The bathroom may have been my favorite transformation," explains Lauren. "I spotted some beautiful inspiration from Studio McGee and I was hooked on the floral wallpaper idea."
