During our travels around the world, we are repeatedly captivated by the abilities of craftspeople to turn natural and recycled materials into functionally clever, beautiful works. In Duang's native Thailand, we have met artisans with centuries-old skills but who often lack access to markets to sustain their talents and traditions. So, in 2006 we established Big Grass as a destination oasis to share these eco-friendly cultural treasures with you.
For generations, people in developing countries have used, reused and re-purposed natural resources. Their work proves that furniture and accessories can be sustainable, expertly made, stylish and functional, and still affordable. We rehabilitated an auto body shop in San Antonio into a showroom and garden that initially featured garden bamboo structures. Today, after much growth and evolution, we are the only US source for two hand-crafted bamboo furniture lines, and the only US supplier of our majestic Ong™ rainwater harvesting jars. Our collections of indoor and outdoor decor, accessories and artifacts continue to grow. Because of our personal relationships with artisan vendors and frequent trips to Southeast Asia, we are also able to customize your orders and source hard-to-find pieces.
