Dorothy Cosonas developed an interest in design at a young age. Her grandfather was a painter and fabric merchant; her mother a calligrapher and architectural render. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, where she earned degrees in both fine arts and textile design, she interned at Unika Vaev under Sina Pearson, then the division's creative director. Dorothy was appointed Unika Vaev's design director of in 1994; in 1999 she became a vice president of the firm. Ms. Cosonas is now the Creative Director of both KnollTextiles and Knoll Luxe. Her work is highly influenced by her passion for fine art and international fashion. Dorothy is known for combining clean, clear color with modern, elegant patterns and textures.

Florence Knoll Bassett (born in Michigan in 1917 as Florence Schust) is an accomplished furniture designer and trained architect but is best known for bringing modernism to America through the designers she has promoted at Knoll, the company she formed in 1946 the year she married her late husband, Hans Knoll. Nicknamed “Shu”, Knoll studied architecture at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she met Eero Saarinen, and later at the architectural Association in London and the Armour Institute at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. She worked under the tutelage of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the Windy City before getting guidance from Walter Gropius and Marcel Breuer in Boston. In New York, she worked with Wallace K. Harrison, where she met Hans in 1941. The two hit it off and founded Knoll Associates, where Knoll worked with many of the modern masters—Saarinen, Mies, Harry Bertoia, Isamu Noguchi, Anni Albers—to put their designs back into production (like Saarinen’s Womb chair and Mies’s Barcelona chair and Dessau table) and help them develop new ones (like Bertoia’s wire furniture). Knoll also revolutionized interior design, with her “total design” approach that focused on embracing everything from the architecture to furniture to graphics to fabrics of a space, and worked on projects with firms like Skidmore Owings and Merrill. In 2002, she was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts’ National Medal of Arts for her contributions to architecture and design.

Lundberg Design is a San Francisco-based twenty person architectural firm founded by Olle Lundberg in 1987 that does work for private and commercial clients throughout the United States. We specialize in high-end modern design, with no particular emphasis on any particular building type. While the core of our practice is architectural, we remain committed to providing design at many levels and are often involved in product, landscape, graphic, and sculpture design. Our signature style tends to be characterized by sculptural form, simply and elegantly executed, with a firm belief in the importance of the carefully thought out detail. We also have our own dedicated 4,000 sq. ft. metal fabrication facility for custom design work and experimentation. All of the design work is centered on the qualities of materials – how they can be plied, bent and cut to produce a visual and tactile result.
