Atelier Oslo is an architectural office established in 2006. Atelier Oslo aims at identifying the specific key challenges in each task, creating a common ground for the later evaluation of a spectrum of ideas and solutions. The development of each project focus on creating architectureof high quality in which the basic elements of architecture such as structure, materiality, light and space are particularly emphasized and reinterpreted in order to solve current problems. Atelier Oslo’s portfolio includes projects ranging from large housing projects to single family houses and small installations.

Charlotte West is a design writer who recently returned to the United States after six years abroad in Stockholm, Sweden. She writes for a number of publications in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and Sweden. Her work has appeared in Icon, Step, Varoom, Budget Travel and Men's Journal. She is also an editor at large for Elemente magazine in Canada. Charlotte lives in Seattle with two Norwegian forest cats.

Raised in the United States and Norway, Nils Finne established FINNE Architects in Seattle in order to bring a Scandinavian understanding of craft and landscape to the Pacific Northwest. The firm has practiced smart sustainable design for twenty-five years, designing new custom homes and renovation projects in many states including Washington, Oregon, California, Michigan and Massachusetts. FINNE is a member of the Green Building Council. Dedicated to the idea of Crafted Modernism, Nils Finne typically designs custom lighting, furniture, cabinets and hardware for every project. FINNE has produced more than 80 pieces of custom fabrications, which are also sold as stand-alone items.

Oh Yeah Studio is a Norwegian duo who specializes in typography, illustration, and graphic design.

Award-winning Danish design team Busk + Hertzog was founded in 2000 by architect Flemming Busk and textile designer Stephan Hertzog. Together, the duo has produced minimalist furniture that combines bold colors, clean lines, and their Danish design heritage. Their work has been on display at the Royal House of Norway, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Norwegian Embassy in Helsinki, and Carnegie Trust.

Peter Opsvik is a Norwegian furniture designer best known for his innovative and ergonomic chairs. Opsvik wrote a book called Rethinking Sitting (2009), offering his thoughts on sitting and an explanation of his philosophy behind his well-known chairs. Creating solutions to stereotypical sitting habits to implicitly inspire movement and variations in posture can be seen as a key factor in Opsvik's work. Opsvik still operates his namesake design studio in Oslo today. In addition to design, Opsvik is a Jazz musician and a longtime member of two Jazz bands.

Anderssen & Voll was established in the fall of 2009 and have received several awards for their work, including the Wallpaper Award, IF Award, and the Honorary Award for Best Design in Norway. Design at A & V means being receptive to cultural and market trends, and applying this knowledge in forward-thinking ways to generate groundbreaking and desirable products for their clients. Anderssen & Voll work within various fields of design but focus on the domestic objects.

Perhaps the most prominent contemporary architect of African descent--he was born in Tanzania, where his father was a Ghanaian diplomat--Adjaye (1966- ) studied at the Royal College of Art in London. He founded Adjaye Architects in 1994 and has since gone on to design a number of influential houses in the UK, the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, and is set to design several branch libraries in Washington DC.

While reporting on "Norwegian Wood", freelance writer Margit Bisztray was also able to enjoy the pleasure of Norway. "I woke up one morning at 4 a.m. and watched the slowly building dawn light illuminate the ocean. By 6 a.m., the first sailors were setting out," she says. Bisztray's hosts treated her to a wood-fired sauna, followed by a plunge in the ocean- which was a little different than taking a dip back home in Key West, Florida. "The water was brisk, to say the least. My whole body screamed."
