Alchemy Builders installed the roof and windows using traditional materials and building methods.
The home in Austin is approximately 350 square feet and features two rooms, with an interior partition made from the same 3D-printed mortar as the exterior walls.
Rows of globe lights featured throughout the rooms cast light in all directions—including up at the ceiling.
A wall of glass provides a strong connection with the surroundings and easy garden access.
The new open-plan living/dining/kitchen space benefits from the raised ceiling height and the addition of the clerestory windows on the south, west and north sides.
The building was constructed with energy-, water-, and resource-efficient materials, as well as with materials and systems that reduced indoor air pollution.
The minimalist interiors feature a mainly monochromatic palette with white walls and black surfaces, including the granite island top and window trim. Small pops of color help break up the color scheme.
In the living room, the horizontal lines of the timber beams at the ceiling echo the bespoke cabinetry that surrounds the gas fireplace. The dining room pendant is the Gubi Semi Pendant.
The spacious open living/dining room has an original wood burning fireplace.
Room 1, located on the 2nd floor,  blends industrial detailing with exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, rich textile finishes, and a custom walnut bed.
