    Surface Pattern Designer Jessica Dodd Jessica is an independent textile and also surface pattern designer in Australia, she gets motivation from the Australian natural bush, classic flowers & ornamental and decorative art and possesses a penchant for making unique designs. About Jessica is a Surface Pattern Designer located in Dunsborough, a calm, wonderful area situated near breathtaking beach locations and wineries nestled down throughout the corner of Western Australia. Growing up by the beach + bush has influenced her admiration for nature and realising what is important in life, family, friends, community and really loving your daily life as well as simply being grateful for every time. Acquiring inspiration from her Interior Design background and comfortable beach lifestyle Jessica's design method takes place by incorporating a variety of different platforms beginning with pencil sketches, marker pen illustrations, watercolours + gouache to totally realise what the total colour palette + pattern will feel like. She then researches + brainstorms latest styles in the market before merging her hand-drawn elements with her computer-generated designs. This produces genuine prints that represent her individual style and flair for textile design. Jessica has accomplished a Bachelor of Design 2D & 3D, a Diploma of Education majoring in Art and is qualified in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign she has developed her style to reflect stunning florals and complex prints that are perfect for homewares + fashion. She is interested in design, in her words represents it as. 'You know when something doesn't feel like work, it's just fun . . . Well, that's what designing is for me, supply all the colour + markers + paint + tech + brief and I will create something just for you.' In the weekends you'll find her swanning around in her Spell dress, drinking wine, gardening with the family, going to the beach, socialising with friends, a bit of on the spot shopping, and chilling out at her fav coffee shop Merchant & Maker... Clients Jessica has designed for labels such as Amore + Sorvete, Tagged Swim & Salty K Swim. She has a long history of operating in the creative industry as an interior designer, and graphic design and art teacher she has also designed prints for handbags, kids clothing labels and travelled to Sri Lanka and Indonesia for sourcing. https://www.littleflowerpatterns.com/

    @marimekko
    Founded in 1951 by Armi Ratia and her husband, Viljo, Marimekko is a Finnish company that designs and manufactures high-quality fabrics and tableware, as well as clothing, bags, and other accessories. Characterized by saturated colors and bold patterns, Marimekko’s products are strong and visually striking, but they do not exclude delicacy or softness. Rather, Marimekko’s designs exist on a line between hard and soft, inspired by both urban elements and natural ones, and by tradition and modernity. Although founded over sixty years ago, Marimekko remains relevant, as it promotes a timeless quality. Fashion and design may have short-lived trends, but Marimekko encourages its designers to create textiles and products that endure, both physically and visually.
  • Harry Bertoia
    @harry_bertoia
    Italian-born American sculptor Harry Bertoia is best known for his eponymous collection of woven-wire seating for Knoll, including the Diamond and Bird chairs. Despite a scandal over creative rights between Bertoia and Charles and Ray Eames, with whom Bertoia worked in the 1940s, the line continues to leave its mark on the design world—–and waffle patterns on the backs of those who grace the seats.

  • Simon Key Bertman
    @simonkeybertman
    Simon Key Bertman’s textile designs are a treat for the eyes, the brain, and the fingertips. His chunky woven patterns— as seen in his handwoven Chess throw —are inspired by optical patterns that two-step to a perfectly ordered but free-spirited rhythm. “At art school I discovered that the systematic method of weaving fit my pattern ideas perfectly, so I studied weaving techniques for many years,” the Stockholm-based designer says of his time at Konstfack. Bertman’s rigorous mark can be found in recent collaborations with Note Design Studio and Svenskt Tenn, among others, and he’s currently busy working on his own showroom. His dream commission? Applying his optical motifs on a much larger scale to public spaces.
  • Rachel and Nick Cope
    @rachel_and_nick_cope
    Rachel and Nick Cope are the founders of Calico Wallpaper. Calico Wallpaper began with the inspiration to move art beyond the frame and incorporate its elements into everyday interior spaces. Through experimentation with the re-appropriation of traditional art forms, and the digital enlargement of unique, handmade patterns, the idea was born to create custom fit, non-repeating wall murals. Balancing background and foreground, texture, color and pattern to create immersive environments, we are continually exploring the expressive possibilities of living space. We work to blend the beauty, play and abstractions of art with the functional utility of design, thereby creating a product that inspires and invigorates the backdrops of our lives.
  • Aoi Yoshizawa
    @aoiyoshizawa
    “I have been interested in textiles ever since my mother and grandmother taught me to sew and knit when I was small,” says breakout textile designer Aoi Yoshizawa. Born and raised in Japan, Yoshizawa has studied her craft in Sweden, Norway, and Finland, where she is currently finishing her master’s degree at Helsinki’s Aalto University. “For pattern design, I like to work with simple elements and overlay them on top of each other, which gives depth to the textile,” she says. This is especially apparent in her Tokyo pattern, produced by Svensson, that manages to be very graphic and very organic at once. Next from Yoshizawa will be a new series of jacquard upholstery fabrics.

  • Industry West
    @industrywest
    There are familiar types of creativity, to be sure. But it’s not always about being artful. Or expressive. It’s not about being born with certain gifts, or validated by others. Rather, creativity is the ability to transcend existing ideas, rules, patterns, or relationships, and to bring about something new and meaningful. Industry West is about supporting and mobilizing people who strive to be creative, whether it’s at work or at home. The whole world needs to achieve its creative potential. So we are the tipping point. We will push creativity into the mainstream where it belongs. That’s what keeps the fire in our belly at Industry West. The non-stop thrill of being creative, sharing creative, and supporting creativity in others. It’s why we like to gorge on new ideas. Why we have wanderlust, and friends all over the world. Why we’re willing to bet big on rising talent. And why our furniture feels strong enough to withstand the nonstop activity associated with creative people, doing creative things in big, creative ways. We are Industry West: Create. Share. Repeat.
