History Never Repeats has specialized in sourcing and elegantly restoring mid century modern designs for a decade. During a quest for a front door to suit our own mid century modern home we discovered doors with function but no inspired form. This started a three year quest to design and create a series of high quality, hand crafted entry and interior doors to compliment architecturally significant homes. These are doors for people who are passionate about good design and think a door should be more than a rectangle with panels.

When the founding members of a design collective all hail from the powerhouse firm Nendo, you can expect their work to be both disciplined and prolific. Such is the case with Takt Project, a multidisciplinary studio based in Tokyo founded by Atsushi Honda, Yoshitaka Ito, Satoshi Yoshiizumi, and Takeshi Miyazaki. The group works on a wide range of projects, from socially driven endeavors like improving wheelchair design to wristwatches for Sony’s under-the-radar wearable tech start-up. Reinvention is a recurring theme in the studio, as seen in the 3-Pring Product line—3-D printed components that people can use to transform readily available, inexpensive products from retailers like Muji. Riffing on the idea of sampling in music, Takt created a bracket that can be used to join run-of-the-mill acrylic storage bins to build a console, and a unit that allows someone to string an ordinary light socket through an acrylic storage box to create a pendant light. “The words of greats from the past taught me that design is not about the beauty of shapes or styling,” says Yoshiizumi, “but rather adding a creative and novel interpretation to existing ways of thinking.”

Weather Projects is an architecture studio founded in 2013 and based in Los Angeles. The studio provides design services for architecture, interiors, and furniture. The work is based on dialogues between forms and spaces that offer society a sense of place, fascination, and a new way to experience the world. We believe this dialogue leads to better buildings, communities, and cities for us all. Our residential projects create a background for modern life. We work closely and collaboratively with homeowners and thoughtful local developers. Our projects range from individual home renovations and additions to ground up single and multi-family developments. Our design focus revolves around responsive buildings and spaces that improve the health, wellness, and aesthetic qualities for it’s inhabitants and the surrounding community.
