In an apartment in Hong Kong, the bedroom sits on a raised floor that contains storage beneath. The Japanese-inspired cabinetry keeps the bedroom feeling fuss-free and simple, but the storage spaces are still accessible without needing to lift up the bed.
After successfully reconfiguring his own tiny New York City apartment, Robert Garneau, partner at Architecture Workshop PC, reinvented a 400-square-foot studio for neighbors just a few floors down. Called the Pivot Apartment, the highly efficient residence now serves multiple functions, thanks to a central modular unit that can be arranged to create distinct stations for living, sleeping, and entertaining.

The bedroom is predominately oak with a custom-designed bed and nightstand. The lighting in this room is also by Sangaré.
The lamps used in guest rooms are handcrafted in pure copper, while the curtains are produced in a local loden factory (loden, from the old German word "lodo" meaning "wool bale," is a woolen fabric produced in the region since the Middle Ages), thus reflecting a strong regional connection to the hotel and its locale.
With the eclectic collection of modern furniture and vintage finds, this studio apartment makes for a unique retreat and is perfect for couples or solo travelers.

Triangular skylights make an appearance in the Master Bedroom as well.  A concrete partition wall with a recessed bookshelf provides a custom headboard solution.

Rather than clutter the master bedroom with furniture, Frame Design Lab created a system where night stands hang from a wall-mounted headboard.
Across from it, a Murphy bed by Resource Furniture—lined with Camilla Meijer wallpaper and featuring a customized niche—allows the space to function as a guest room. An electric Velux skylight frames views of the original tin plates above. The architects chose to leave space between the top of the structure and the ceiling to maintain the rectangular proportions of the loft. “It reads right away,” Singer says of the volume. “It’s very satisfying.”
