Don Brent Wensauer is a respected independent real estate professional and the founder and president of Property Management Services, Inc., based in Oklahoma. Alongside his successful real estate career, he is a practicing attorney with almost 45 years of experience in the legal field. Don’s multifaceted career reflects his unwavering dedication to hard work, personal growth, and a commitment to positively impacting the communities he serves.
Don’s educational journey began at Northwest Classen High School, where he was involved in several extracurricular activities, including being on the debate team and lettering in wrestling. His dedication to athletics earned him the distinction of an outstanding athlete in his senior year. While many of his peers attended Oklahoma State University, Don chose to participate in Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, where he spent two years. Afterward, he briefly lived in Dallas before moving to Sebastopol, California.
It was in California that Don experienced a unique chapter of his life. He lived in a commune on an estate once owned by Charles Schulz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. During this time, he worked as a grape picker in Napa Valley, which allowed him to connect with migrant workers and gain a deep understanding of the struggles faced by the working class. This experience helped shape his perspective on hard work and social responsibility, and it would influence his future personal and professional choices.
Although Don aspired to attend the University of California, Berkeley, he faced financial challenges that made it unattainable. Instead, he returned to Oklahoma, enrolling at Southern Nazarene University, majoring in philosophy and religion. Later, he continued his education at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Law, where he earned his law degree. During his time in law school, Don worked graveyard shifts at freight docks, further honing his work ethic and solidifying his connection to the working class.
Upon earning his law degree and being admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association, Don began his legal career. Simultaneously, he began investing in real estate, partnering with his father to create a successful business. However, Don faced substantial financial difficulties when the Oklahoma oil and real estate market crashed, leaving him millions of dollars in debt. Instead of filing for bankruptcy, Don dissolved his partnership with his parents, protecting their assets. His decision to avoid bankruptcy and focus on working with creditors allowed him to repay his debts and recover financially.
Today, Don manages a real estate exchange fund that oversees large residential portfolios and transforms them into commercial properties. His work involves identifying profitable investment opportunities, offering high-value properties, and managing complex tax-deferred exchanges. Don’s ability to manage large investments in a high-pressure environment has been a key factor in his continued success in the real estate industry.
Throughout his career, Don has earned several academic and professional honors. While attending Southern Nazarene University, he was awarded the Presidential Honor Award while earning his Bachelor of Arts degree. At the University of Oklahoma’s College of Law, Don earned a place on the Dean’s Honor Roll. He is an active member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the American Bar Association, further establishing his professional standing in the legal community.
In addition to his professional success, Don is committed to giving back to the community. He regularly volunteers at First Step, a local drug and alcohol rehabilitation center, and participates in the Behind the Walls ministry, which helps individuals incarcerated in Oklahoma prisons. Don is also a member of AMBUCS, a civic organization that donates therapeutic tricycles to disabled children and veterans.
Don’s interests reflect his diverse passions. He is deeply interested in residential architecture and design and recently built his dream home on a lakeside property. Inspired by the architecture of Naples, Florida, Don’s home reflects his love for design and attention to detail. He also enjoys various outdoor activities, including snow skiing, snowboarding, hiking, skydiving, scuba diving, and motorcycling. His love for motorcycling began during his years in Texas and continues to be a favorite pastime. In addition to these hobbies, Don has a collection of contemporary art, timepieces, and classic muscle cars.
Don Brent Wensauer’s life is a testament to the power of perseverance, dedication, and hard work. From his early experiences in California to his current success in law and real estate, Don has shown that one can overcome any obstacle with determination and resilience. As he celebrates nearly 45 years in the legal profession, Don continues to inspire others with his unwavering commitment to his work and passion for personal growth. His professional and personal accomplishments serve as a reminder of the importance of staying true to one’s values, working hard, and giving back to the community.
