Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann was a renowned French product and interior designer. He was known for epitomizing the French Art Deco style of the 1920s. In 1919, Ruhlmann founded, along with Pierre Laurent, the company Ruhlmann et Laurent, which specialized in interior design and producing luxury products for the home, including furniture, lighting, wallpaper, and accessories. Ruhlmann utilized precious and exotic woods and materials in his designs. The New York Times referred to Ruhlmann as “Art Deco’s greatest artist” in 2009.
