Set under a tall sequoia tree in Portland’s Buckman neighborhood, the Silver Sequoia  is a 1958 Airstream Land Yacht that serves as a well-planned, contemporary Airbnb. The project took design duo Cynthia Tuan and Shane Beers two years to complete—with Beers dedicating himself full time to his first Airstream renovation project.

Located about 30 minutes from Austin, Texas, this hideaway is part of the boutique retreat Green Acres, which was created to provide a space for free spirits, artists, and families to connect in the peace and quiet of nature. The Schulman yurt can accommodate three adults, and features a queen bed and a pull-away. It also comes with heating and bath essentials.

"It looks small from the outside, but when you step inside, you’re blown away by how big it feels," says the owner, Amber Estep. "It is open, airy, and invokes a feeling of ease as soon as you enter." The home, known as Rumspringa, was inspired by an adventure that Estep and her partner had in Portugal.

Tucked away on a 10-acre forested property, the tiny cabin overlooks views of the redwoods. In celebration of the Mushroom Dome Cabin’s popularity (the rental has held the title as Airbnb’s most popular listing for ten years), Airbnb created a replica of the cabin at their headquarters.

The owners also transformed an old school bus to serve as an add-on experience for Gimlet. Inside are a mini kitchen, dining booth, and pull-out bed/sofa.

The pictured model— known as Mainsail—uses a 40-foot shipping container, allowing room for a private bedroom and separate living area. It also opts for a separate entrance along the side, where portions of the original shipping container are visible as part of the facade.
