• Alejandro Sticotti
    @alejandro_sticotti
    The work of Argentinean architect Alejandro Sticotti has a modernist foundation: He takes the constructive and rational influences of the Bauhaus and Scandinavian modern, adds American Shaker and 1950s design elements, and merges them with the materials and sensibility of his native culture. His Shelving Units (2008) are made from warm, unique South American hardwoods; the vertical and horizontal mounts are crafted of solid lapacho, and the shelves are made with cerejeira veneer. Relying on the steadying forces of gravity, Unit B hangs off the master horizontal bar at the top, creating sturdy shelving, which can be placed high or low on the wall, depending on needs. The notched side of each shelf simply slides into the vertical beams, holding it snugly in place. Sticotti Shelving is well-resolved in its versatility: Combine multiple units to create additional storage, move shelves to different levels as needs change or add the desk shelf to create a compact workspace solution.

  • Brian Kersten Minnesota
    @briankerstenminnesota
    Brian Kersten Minnesota, was born and raised on a family farm in Appleton, Wisconsin, and has always had a deep connection with animals. This early exposure to animal care fueled his passion for veterinary medicine, leading him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota. After graduating with high distinction in 1977, his academic prowess was evident. Driven by a commitment to make veterinary care accessible to all, he founded Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin, in 2021. The clinic focuses on providing low-cost, high-quality medical services to small animals, ensuring that every pet owner is turned in due to financial constraints. His expertise spans various disciplines, including small animal surgery and dentistry, where he employs the latest techniques to provide the best care possible. In addition to his primary role at Mercy Veterinary Service, he serves as a relief veterinarian in Amery, Wisconsin. This position allows him to offer his skills to a broader range of animal clinics, helping to improve the standard of care provided across multiple communities. His professional journey also includes significant international experience. After completing his veterinary degree in 1983, he spent 2.5 years in Haiti, where he contributed to rural development projects. His work not only improved the health and welfare of local livestock but also helped enhance the living standards of rural communities by implementing sustainable agricultural practices. Upon returning to the United States, he continued his practice in Baldwin, eventually purchasing and expanding a local veterinary clinic in 2001. He led this clinic until 2016, during which time he also served as the President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society from 2001 to 2003. His leadership helped spearhead various initiatives aimed at improving animal welfare and educating the community about responsible pet ownership. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is an active volunteer and supporter of several charitable organizations. He works with Today’s Harvest Food Shelf, helping to alleviate food insecurity in his community, and supports Mercy Corps in its global humanitarian efforts. He also lends his veterinary skills to Barefoot Crow Animal Rescue, providing care for rescued animals. His personal life is as fulfilling as his professional one. He is married with four grown children and enjoys various hobbies, including playing the guitar, gardening, reading, and staying physically active. These activities reflect his belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. Brian Kersten, Minnesota’s dedication to veterinary medicine and his community, sets an inspiring example of how professional skills and personal passions can be harmoniously aligned to make a significant impact.
