Moooi was founded in 2001 and is known for its innovative designs in furniture and lighting. The venture was founded by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers and is named after mooi, the Dutch word for beautiful—the third ‘o’ in the brand name stands for an extra value in terms of beauty and uniqueness.

Dutch designer Marcel Wanders is a master of all mediums. Born in July 2, 1963, he studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven—which has also produced designers like Dror Behshetrit, Tord Boontje, Bertjan Pot, and Piet Hein Eek—and came onto the design scene in 1996 with his Knotted chair for Droog. Since then, he has plates and pillows for B&B Italia, tubs and sinks for Boffi, lamps for Flos, and stools and chairs for Magis. Today, he is the art director and co-owner of Moooi, founded in 2000, and has broadened his reach into interior and architectural design for stores and hotels around the world as well as private residents in Jakarta and Amsterdam, among others.

Born in Nieuwleusen, the Netherlands, in 1975, Dutch designer Bertjan Pot uses his infatuation with textures and skins to create furniture and lighting for famed manufacturers like Montis and Moooi. After learning to weave and knit while studying at the Design Academy Eindhoven—which has also produced designers like Dror Behshetrit, Tord Boontje, Marcel Wanders, and Piet Hein Eek—Pot transformed his interests into now-iconic fixtures like the Random Light, Random Chair, Carbon Chair with Marcel Wanders, Non-Random Chair, and Lazy Bastard Chair. He continues to live and work in the Netherlands.

Born in La Spezia in 1954, Stefano Giovannoni graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Florence in 1978. He lives and works in Milan. From 1979 to 1991, he held teaching and research at the Faculty of Architecture in Florence. As an industrial and interior designer and architect, Giovannoni specializes in plastic products. He has worked with companies such as Alessi, Fiat, Hannspree, Hanssem, Helit, Honeywell, Laufen, L 'Oreal, Magis, Maletti, Better, Moooi, Nissan, Promelit, Pulsar, Samsung, Seiko, Siemens, Skitsch, Sodastream, Toto, and more.

Joost van Bleiswijk and Kiki van Eijk work as individual designers, but sometimes combine their skills to create collaborative projects. Where Kiki works with a strong poetic and female tough, Joost’s work is more masculine and constructive. The result of their collaborations is exactly that. In interior projects, landscape projects, exhibitions, their book, and now the new furniture range for MOOOI they combine both the technical and constructive elements that characterize Joost’s approach, with the refined, refreshing and surprising vision of Kiki. Apart from their work for Moooi, they have worked with and for clients and galleries worldwide in individual and collaborative way.

Born in Milano where she studied art at the Brera Academy. From '85 she started as free lance fashion designer for Fiorucci, Basile, Plein Sud, Sergio Rossi, Camper and many others. From '96 with passion she dedicated also to industrial design, working for Antiquità, Viceversa, Alessi, Dilmos, Dedon, Moooi. She partecipated in many exibithions in Italy (Triennale MI) and abroad (Cooper Hewitt NY) and many others. Lives and work in Milano in her own design studio.
