  • newyorkhandmade
    @newyorkhandmade
    We specialize in producing exquisite custom woodwork and furniture. Proudly made in the Hudson Valley for over 20 years. https://newyorkhandmade.com/ Our work is of matchless quality and enduring value, but we’re up-to-the-minute when it comes to using materials and finishes that show respect for our environment. We often use lumber reclaimed from old factories and barns throughout the U.S. We purchase logs cut from storm-damaged or standing dead trees in our Hudson Valley. When a project requires wood not grown locally we use only FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified lumber from managed forests. We were early adopters of environmentally friendly finishes. For hand rubbed finishes we use a no-VOC plant-based natural oil, which is food safe. For a sprayed finish, our choice is a low VOC waterborne lacquer made by M.L.Campbell.

  • KIZARA
    @kizara
    Kizara is a Japanese organization that was formed to address a forestry management challenge in their country, where the increase in imported lumber resulted in unused wastewood in the Japanese forests.The firm struck the notion of slicing the wood into paper thin slices and using it to create new products, including plates. Kizara is an alternative to plastic and paper plates. Wether it is burned or buried in a landfill, or simply thrown away with regular trash it returns to the earth naturally; Kizara does not contain any harmdful materials and can naturally decompose.

  • Greeno
    @greeno
    Greeno is a company committed to a greener way of life. Based in pristine Greenough, Montana, Greeno was born out of the need to battle the local pine beetle infestation. By logging the beetle-killed trees and protecting the survivors in PEFC-certified forests, Greeno promotes forest health and safety in Montana. In an odd twist of fate, the Mountain Pine Beetle leaves an attractive footprint: a unique silvery blue stain. Greeno is taking the pine beetle's blue-stained calling card and turning it into beautifully designed flooring, paneling, crown molding, baseboards and window and door casings. Just as strong as non-stained lumber, harvested trees can now live on in new construction, re-models, community building projects, furniture and more. Blue is the new green.
