KBHA is a Full-Service Design + Build firm, with the goal of proving human comfort and an incredible experience of living at home in the desert. We specialize in custom desert homes from the architecture and construction, to the final details of the interiors.

B&B Italia, founded in 1966, is a recognized leader in the area of modern interior decoration, the company's products represent a collection that reflects the history and achievements of Italian design, a process through which Italian creativity and expertise have become world-famous.

Armed with an engineering degree from Stanford University, a Master of Fine Arts from the California College of the Arts, and a love for designing and building furniture, Maggie Birmingham founded lab31 in the summer of 2004. Lab31 is located in Oakland, CA, where the cloudless vlue sky, the ripening oranges, lemons, and pears out the office window, and rich red of the mole at our favorite nearby oaxacan restaurant, create a vibrant backdrop for our designs. Our designs are inspired by color, pattern, tradition, and craft. All the pieces are equally suitable in a room full of antiques as they are in a contemporary loft. But no mater where their home is, lab31 furniture makes a statement, and with the variety of color combinations and styles available, reflects the personality of its owner.

Modern design.

Alden B. Dow, the son of the founder of The Dow Chemical Company, started designing structures with leaves when he was eight. He opened an architectural office in 1934 in his hometown of Midland, Michigan, and added on a home for his young family to move into in 1941. Open today as a learning center for design, architecture, and creativity, and designated as a National Historic Landmark, visitors are inspired by the blending of nature into inside spaces. Designed with "honesty, humility and enthusiasm," three of the guiding principles in all his future works, the building is a classic in the successful and delicate blending of landscape and architecture. In addition to over sixty homes in Midland, Michigan, Alden B. Dow designed many residences in other parts of the United States. During World War II, he designed and personally supervised the construction of the entire town of Lake Jackson, Texas, as his father’s chemical company expanded there and needed homes for plant workers.
