    MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The practice works locally and internationally on cultural, academic and residential projects, providing full architectural and interior design services. There are two Partners: Brian MacKay-Lyons and Talbot Sweetapple, and one Senior Associate: Melanie Hayne.     Dr. James McInnis previously held a position as an Emergency Physician at McMaster University Hospital for four years before becoming the Director of Care at Wasaga/Angus Community Health Center – Family Practice. His medical career took a new direction in 2010 when he became a Class B reservist in the Medical Division of the Canadian Armed Forces. A lifelong volunteer, he has been committed to supporting the underprivileged since his medical school days at the Barrington Street Shelter in Halifax, where he provided medical assessments and care for the homeless. His commitment extended to shelters in Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario, where he also worked at an attached STD clinic. He has made significant contributions to helping individuals transition away from the sex trade, focusing on their safety and education. Furthermore, he has been involved in tutoring children residing in group homes. He is the proud father of three daughters, ages 24, 19, and 9, and a son who is 22. He treasures time with his family, particularly enjoying outdoor sports and activities. He actively participates in his children's extracurricular activities, having spent over ten years as a minor hockey coach in the Wasaga Beach and Barrie Minor Hockey Associations, more than five years as a parent helper in Simcoe Figure Skating, and over five years as a volunteer at his daughter's dance troop. He is a devoted Christian, faithfully attending Mapleview Christian Church weekly with his children.

    Dr. Edward McInnis, Lt. (N), MD, CCFP, is a dedicated and experienced physician with a broad range of expertise in family and emergency medicine. With over 16 years of experience as a family physician and a decade of work in emergency and trauma care, he has built a career grounded in service, skill, and a commitment to health care. Alongside his medical practice, he is a proud father of four children, a volunteer, an athlete, and a lieutenant in the Canadian Armed Forces, serving as a Navy reservist. Dr. McInnis was born and raised in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, and is the eldest of four siblings. His childhood was marked by a love for sports and a natural competitiveness. He excelled in various sports, including hockey, baseball, tennis, and golf. His passion for hockey and baseball was evident in his commitment to these sports at the competitive level. McInnis played Junior A hockey and was even evaluated by the Boston Red Sox for a potential pitching position, highlighting his athletic abilities. As he grew older, he added weightlifting to his athletic pursuits, maintaining an active and disciplined lifestyle. From a young age, Dr. McInnis exhibited a strong work ethic. At the age of ten, he took on a paper route, a task that taught him responsibility and time management. By the age of 13, he worked full-time at McDonald's, learning valuable customer service and teamwork lessons. These early experiences shaped his character and work ethic, qualities that have remained with him throughout his life and career. Dr. McInnis’s academic journey is impressive and diverse. He completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1992. Following his graduation, he traveled throughout the United States, gaining valuable life experience and broadening his perspective before returning to pursue further education. In 1997, Dr. McInnis earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with honors in Biochemistry and Genetics from Dalhousie University. This strong foundation in the sciences led him to pursue a career in medicine. He entered Dalhousie Medical School in 2000, where he completed his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2004. His medical training included an internship at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where he undertook postgraduate studies in both emergency and family medicine. His specialized training prepared him for a diverse medical career, balancing family care and emergency trauma management. Dr. McInnis is also dedicated to continuing education and professional development. In 2002, he earned a certification in Epidemiology from Dalhousie University. This qualification has allowed him to understand public health issues better and contribute to the broader medical field, particularly in health research and prevention. His ongoing commitment to learning and improving his skills has ensured that he remains at the forefront of medical advancements and is always prepared to provide the best patient care.
