For decades, college athletes were prohibited from profiting from their name, image, and likeness (NIL) due to strict NCAA rules that barred any form of direct compensation. This system, increasingly viewed as unfair and outdated, drew legal challenges and growing demands for reform. By 2021, the NCAA responded by changing its rules, allowing student-athletes to earn income through NIL activities. The evolution continued in 2025 when the NCAA lifted restrictions on NIL negotiations before enrollment, creating unprecedented opportunities for aspiring college athletes.
Anticipating the transformation of college sports, two student-athletes and a devoted sports fan launched YOKE in 2020. They believed in a future where NIL rights could empower every student-athlete—not just the stars. Their solution was to build a platform that allows fans to directly support their favorite athletes, fostering authentic engagement while giving athletes greater control over their financial futures. The NIL Club app was created to bring these ideas to life, and its development drew on feedback from hundreds of thousands of student-athletes.
NIL Club quickly became a leader in the NIL space, serving both college and high school athletes. The platform offers a secure, transparent, and compliant environment that enables athletes to connect with supporters, establish their brands, and earn a steady income. With over 20,000 active groups and teams, more than 250,000 participating students, and $16 million paid out to athletes, NIL Club has set a new standard for athlete empowerment.
