When Jenny Cooper, former Crewcuts designer and owner of zero-waste coffee shop IXV Coffee in Brooklyn, had to close her business because of the pandemic, she turned to mask making. She donates her creations to healthcare workers and sells them on her website to help offset her expenses.

A carefully curated, shoppable "Gift Shoppe" is also stocked with custom-made, A-frame cabin-inspired goods, such as a Külhaus reusable water bottle to discourage the use of plastic bottles (proceeds go to KeepTahoeBlue.org), zero-waste fully insulated Triangle Tote (hand-sewn by the owner) to replace disposable shopping bags, and hand-crocheted Cabin Slippers made with vegan leather.  Guests can easily pay via QR code.

Over at Connubia, I was impressed with what could be the future of flatpack furniture: a chair that doesn’t look like it required a set of throw-away tools and paper instructions to assemble. Per the video I watched at least twice, Connubia’s chair, which they say is a zero-waste design, only requires a coin and some gumption to put together, and is so easy that even a child (or very good child actor) can do it.
