Designer Jesús Irizar of mob created three different chair designs for the space, highlighting wood, wicker, and leather, as well as basket-weaving techniques. The geometric motif on the ceiling references Mexico's pre-Columbian pyramids.

Ludovica Serafini and Roberto Palomba, who work as Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, commissioned a dining table of their own design from Exteta and paired it with Abanica chairs by Oscar Tusquets for Driade. The ceramic centerpiece is by Emilia Palomba, Roberto’s aunt.

A firepit and an inflatable hot tub with a wicker surround add a bit of luxury to Joe and Rachel’s Venice Beach rental.

Kay’s timeless, Scandinavian-style teak frame gives a nod to the classic French cane wicker—making it at home in both traditional and contemporary settings.

The wicker chair at Aulenti’s bedroom desk is one of her own designs for the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. In the mid-1980s, Aulenti transformed the Belle Époque train station into the world-renowned museum it is today.

The curvilinear lines and caned wicker seats of the Arlington collection reference British colonial style. Man-made wicker offers an authentic caned look with all the benefits of a modern material.

John Issa of Perimeter Architects oversaw the creation of the rope room in this Wicker Park abode, which belongs to client Brian Littleton—a bachelor with a young niece and nephew. "It posed tons of challenges," he recalls. "Designing with a material that has slack is more math than I care to tackle."

The family also used the terraces as living and work spaces. The vintage wicker furniture came from the local flea market.

Brenda and Ruby sit comfortably on the swinging daybed, located in their screened-in porch. The wicker furniture, found in Maine, is over 100 years old.

The other terrace also boasts a wicker chair, plus a mid-1960s table with a terrazzo top, both from the flea market in Lugano.

The bedroom features a mix of materials and textures and a delightful vintage vibe. The 1950s pendant light is by Stilnovo and the bamboo and wicker wall sconce is by Ingo Mauer.

The intimate back patio features an antique wicker chair from Maine along with a zinc table from Arteriors and outdoor dining chairs from David Sutherland.

By the Saey fireplace, a wicker chair from Malawi echoes the lines of Pinch’s Willo table. Matching other pieces to their line “is not an exact science,” Oona says, “just an innate reaction to things we love.”

An all-weather wicker-like fiber is used to create the oversized, and dramatically curved French cane backrest which is available in two different sizes. The Kay collection comes in three colorways: Brindle, Harvest or Copper fiber set on the elegant teak frame.

Hanging Wicker Egg Chair

The deck is crafted from Brazilian hardwood. Here, a custom porch swing echoes the front porch in a more modernist way. A wicker Ikea chair offers another chic seating option. The ceiling fan on the porch was a must, according to Christina. “I’m from the South. I know that if we’re gonna sit on the porch, we’re gonna need a swing and a fan.”

Terra's wicker transcends

Behind the resin screen is the property’s centerpiece: an entry garden that Trainor recast as an outdoor living room. Sparta stacking chairs, a deep-wicker Baia sofa, and matching Baia armchairs, all by Mamagreen, are arranged around a custom concrete fire pit. Orange kangaroo paws lean in from the sides, creating a sense of privacy without sacrificing views. It’s a welcoming space that serves as a casual gathering spot when the weather cooperates.
