Krukka’s motto is to keep it mobile, versatile, interactive and playful. Krukka designers aim to create from objects that are often thought of as rubbish. Plywood slats were fixed to become stools, cast off wood was used to create chairs, and crates were fastened into shelves.

Would expect nothing less than beautiful at the Lasvit booth, and we weren't disappointed by this blown glass installation by Czech designer Jitka Kamencová Skuhravá.

Random Studio, an interactive digital design studio based in Amsterdam, and Petrovsky & Ramone created Our Kisses, a wish-bone shaped contraption that invites viewers to kiss one end while a camera hidden at the other end records them.

The project aimed to bring strangers together onscreen with a simple human gesture that extends beyond race, age, and gender. The installation was originally created for the Oxymoron exhibition of Petrovsky & Ramone during Beijing Design Week 2013.

The installation "In a State of Repair" seeks to highlight the work of craftspeople, artisans, and technicians who repair things that break. Martino Gamper, a designer and the exhibition's curator, hopes this inspires people to keep the belongings they have instead of throwing them away if they break.

Museum as Manufacturer (shown at right) allows the community to participate in the exhibit by taking on the role of designer. Public submitted projects are brought to life in the gallery via a 3-D printer. The objects are then collected and displayed in the exhibit. Keetra Dean Dixon and JK Keller, 2013. Arthur Huang’s Shanghai-based structure entitled “Feather Pavilion” flawlessly embraces the ethos of Nike Flyknit. Huang used a recycled material known as TPU POLLI-brick to build the structure. It is sustainable and lightweight and reacts to a visitor’s presence.

From Central Pavilion: The OMA installation collects works of architecture by civil servants in five European countries driven by local authorities in the 1960s and 1970s. The mix is still modern and refreshing, featuring works made for the greater good, without personal ambitions. A legacy made with common sense, rigor, control and optimism. A selection of humble masterpieces achieved by bureaucrats.

Douglas Baker, a Rochester-based graphic designer, commissioned Castle to create one of his furniture-as-architecture installations for Baker's dining room. What Castle did was nothing short of miraculous: an acrobatic feat of woodworking that flipped the laminated white-oak dining table on its head and suspended it from the ceiling, complete with conical lighting fixture. Sadly, the set-up no longer exists as it did in 1966 (pictured here).

Throughout the space are student installations. One of the second-year classes, in fact, requires each student to choose a location in the building and create a site-specific work, which has ranged from an inflatable object taking over a classroom to 3,000 plastic cups of water placed in the entry.
