This daybed and lounge chair was originally designed in 1962 by Ole Gjerløv-Khudsen for his son, who was embarking on a camping trip. Comprised of a sustainably harvested soaped beech frame and natural jute, the Portable Daybed and Lounge Chair are easily transported and can be used in indoor and outdoor spaces. Celebrated architect Frank Gehry designed an innovative furniture collection for Heller in 2004. The collection, including this easy chair, is characterized by its striking resemblance to sculpture. Frida Erson and Martin Eckerberg, co-founders of the Stockholm firm Formellt, designed an easy chair with upholstery that envelops the frame like a cocoon.

The strong and sturdy house acts as a warm respite from the elements when the weather won’t cooperate, which is often—horizontal rain and whipping winds can be the norm.

Their bathroom has walls of watertight Plexiglas. “They were so easy to set up,” John says, “the contractors installed all six bathrooms in one day.”
