Stillfried Wien stocks furniture from Lichterloh, a furniture maker and vintage shop located in Vienna. Markus Pernhaupt’s pieces have a clear nod to the past but with modern adaptations, like this Burka daybed.

In addition to a desk that doubles as a game table, the front upstairs loft houses a weathered leather Corbusier daybed.

The OGK Safari Daybed is a versatile furnishing that is both minimalist and statement making. The furnishing was originally designed in 1962 by Ole Gjerløv-Khudsen for his son, who was embarking on a camping trip. Comprised of a sustainably harvested soaped beech framed and a natural jute bed, the Safari Daybed is easily transported and can be used in indoor and outdoor spaces.

Inspiration can be found everywhere: For Massproductions’ Chris Martin, the idea to the design of the Mega daybed came while he was looking at freshly baked bread on a wire rack at his local bakery. Both bread and leisure furniture represent comfort, life and stability, according to Martin. Plump cushions are enclosed and lifted by thin steel tube side panels.

The kids’ room of the Milford Residence in Portland, Oregon is outfitted with a cheerful orange Case Study daybed from Modernica and a selection of vintage maps and artwork.

The family room, on the second story of the old building, is a place for gathering and relaxing. Behind the balcony doors, the room is accented by Modernica Case Study V-Leg daybed and BluDot ottomans and coffee table.

Gray designed her famous Pirogue daybed for the Rue de Lota apartment between 1920 and 1924. The lacquered daybed was inspired by Polynesian dugout canoes. It is a delicate, feminized piece, recalling exotic designs, luxurious materials, and historical French forms.

Whether the situation calls for a chair and end table, recliner, or even a guest bed, the hyper-flexible KEWB from Sit and Sleep can adapt. Combine two or more pieces for a modular seating arrangement or double bed; each KEWB folds into a compact side table when not in use.

In addition to finding new uses for marble, designers have also created stunning trompe l’oeil pieces, like this upholstered daybed designed by Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman for Baleri Italia.

The 275-square-foot LOVT prefab is a feast of crisp millwork, with a modular daybed stacked on drawers and kitchen cabinets with cutouts for pulls.

Kim in her guest bedroom, on a daybed she fashioned out of a queen-sized bed and a plywood headboard she painted. The walls are cloaked in Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue.

The daybed beneath the window was specifically designed for LOVT. Apart from hiding storage, it can be moved from the wall and split into two unites to provide extra seating.

The treehouse serves also as temporary guest quarters, with modern-day amenities like a daybed, a sink, a toilet, a small refrigerator, a fireplace and a microwave.

Storage cabinets are located above and to one side of the daybed in the living area; there's also storage built into the daybed itself.

In the living room, guests gather on a matching ebony sofa and daybed from Hudson and a pair of Jorge Zalszupin lounge chairs. An Yves Klein coffee table—filled with the artist’s signature International Klein Blue pigment— provides a vivid burst amid otherwise organic tones. The walnut-and-bronze cabinetry is a custom design.

Knox daybed by Polis Design for American Leather, $4,050. Produced in Dallas, Texas, the midcentury-inspired piece has a solid-walnut platform and slatted back, stainless-steel legs, and a buttonless tufted-leather cushion in a shade called Haven Pesto.
