The kitchen is tucked underneath a children’s playroom, creating a more intimate feeling that contrasts with a soaring ceiling in the family room.
Melanie Gaither Interiors selected light, beachy furnishing and finishes to match the view outside Haystack Rock Getaway. A deck outside the living room extends the connection to the ocean.
A wall of floor-to-ceiling glass brings a strong sense of the outdoors into the open-plan living room.

Serene natural materials were used throughout the house to weather well under harsh conditions, as well as to create the sublime color palette.
Fronting Alamo Square Park, the living room’s pitched ceiling creates an expansive space for socializing and relaxing. The space is accented by a custom sofa and window seat by Franciscan Interiors, rocking chairs from B&B Italia, a Lake low credenza by BDDW. The fireplace-adjacent bench seating is upholstered in William Yeoward Alverdia fabric in Ocean, complementing the teal accents in the adjoining dining room and kitchen.
The open-plan layout is a fitting setting to embrace a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic.
