Things to See at NeoCon

NeoCon, the contract industry's largest tradeshow, hits Chicago June 10-12, 2013.

Monday marks the beginning of NeoCon, the annual tradeshow for the contract industry headquartered at Chicago's Merchandise Mart. It's a wealth of resources for architectural or interior designers working in corporate hospitality, healthcare, retail, government, institutional and residential—and there are takeaways for the interested consumer, as well.

Knoll will bring its new "Tools for Life" collection by OMA, which premiered at Salone del Mobile, to NeoCon. Shown here is the 04 Counter, a stacked, horizontal unit which can be rotated to form shelves and cantilevered benches. Below are the 05 Round Table and 01 Arm Chair.

Rich Brilliant Willing, who will be showing at Stand 8-7080 in the Merchandise Mart, has several introductions for 2013, including Gala, a hanging chandelier, a new Double Channel task lamp and our personal favorite, the rotating Monocle sconce which emits a warm LED glow.

Pictured here is Vancouver-based Studio Brovhn's Bridge table; a similar table, Hexa, will be shown at Federlegno Arredo's stand at the Merchandise Mart, #7-3024A. Both are available in ash, oak, or walnut, and while Bridge features metal leg details, the Hexa has a wood-to-wood joint with a 90-degree vertical profile.

Herman Miller debuted its Mirra 2 task chair this spring at Milan's Salone del Mobile; catch it in action at NeoCon in the company's Merchandise Mart showroom #3-321. Designed by Studio 7.5 of Berlin, Germany, it's a complete redesign of the original Mirra chair: leaner, lighter, and more responsive to the sitter's movements.

Haworth will be introducing six new products and a handful of “preview products” by Patricia Urquiola at this year's NeoCon. Hoop, shown here, is a molded, standing-height table modeled on the open, flexible office, as it encourages collaborative conversation between small groups. Bonus: It can also be used outdoors.
