Salone Satellite 2012
This year marks the 15-year anniversary of SaloneSatellite, the portion of Salone Internazionale del Mobile dedicated to young designers under the age of 35.
studio vit, a pair of designers from Sweden, displayed their second collection for SaloneSatellite entitled Marble Lights. Comprising pendants, floor and table pieces, the designers describe their conception thus: "Originating from an
archetypal bulb and socket, it consists of glass spheres and cylindrical
marble lamp holders in various sizes which can be freely combined.
Marble lights includes table, floor and pendant lights, as well as three
floor weights which can be used as counterweights to the suspended
lights. The aim of the collection is to create a product that is simple yet
refined and generates a juxtaposition of volumes, materials and weights."
Francesca Lanzavecchia and Hunn Wai of L+W presented a collection entitled "No Country for Old Men" comprised of pieces for the aging community, including this trio of lightweight canes that also function as table surfaces. This the SaloneSatellite debut for the pair, who met while students at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
