Onstage at Dwell on Design 2014, Day Three

On the last day of Dwell on Design in Los Angeles, onstage talks will spotlight renowned mid-century architects, question knockoffs, and offer design strategies for neurological challenges. Click through for a preview.

Two landscape design experts, Charlotte Frieze and Judy Kameon will share their favorite outdoor rooms with the Dwell on Design audience, including those featured in their books. Two onstage talks will delve into the work of mid-century modernist A. Quincy Jones. In a talk titledDesign for Iconic Homes, Rob Fissmer of Vitsœ furniture and designer Cliff Fong of the Los Angeles atelier Galerie Half will discuss designing for houses by Jones—including the Brody house in Los Angeles. Later, architect Bruce Norelius and his partner Landis Green will discuss their renovation of a Jones house in the Crestwood development of Los Angeles. A. Design Prize Switzerland, which has a booth on the show floor, joins Dwell on Design for an onstage talk about how technology drives design innovation. Design Prize curator Michel Hueter and Swissnex’s Sophie Lamparter will moderate the conversation with Beat Karrer (FluidSolids), Lukas Scherrer, and Ahrens Ranae (eLumino “E-Broidery” by Création Baumann). During the two-week AAVSLA program, students study L.A.'s iconic houses as a way to spark conversation about the future of residential design.
