Interesting Angled Ceilings
Angled ceilings make interiors feel more spacious, while adding an element of visual intrigue.
The goal of the renovation was a spatially coherent and unified that uses the home's existing assets (high ceiling, great views) to its best advantage. The first operation allowed the redistribution of the various living spaces, including the first floor living room which looks out onto Colle Oppio.
Omer Arbel, the creative director at industrial design firm Bocci, was given three parameters when he began designing a home for his colleague Randy Bishop: Create a “profound” connection between the internal and external spaces; build only one level; and, most crucially, utilize a wealth of 100-year-old beams salvaged from a series of warehouses owned by Bishop’s ancestors.
“The walls are painted brick to reinforce the connection to the exterior of the house,” Trimble says of the combined dining and living area. Clad in European oak flooring, the warm space features Series 7 chairs by Fritz Hansen, a Soverin Table by Andreu World, and a comfy, leather Marenco sofa by Arflex.
