Gigantic Bookshelves and Cases
If a couple of stacked cinder blocks and 2x4s is your idea of book storage, these massive shelves and cases may comes as a shock.
Hughes’ collection of hundreds of books is stored on a vertiginous two story bookcase, which takes up the whole of the northern wall of the living room. It’s an ingenious solution to the small-space dwelling that draws the eye up, adding texture and interest to the room without taking up floor space.
When Russian-born architect Andrei Saltykov designed his home in the UK, he put his love of the USA on the shelf. Showing off his library wasn’t Saltykov’s only aesthetic aim, though.
