Elegant Dining Rooms

In a couple’s Mexico City apartment designed by David Levy of Flexform, a Murano chandelier hangs above a marble-topped dining table from the showroom.

Tom Dixon pendant lamps hang above a steel-and-marble dining table by Chris Connell topped by Kate Hume vases and surrounded by painted Thonet chairs. The wood-veneer cabinetry in the adjacent kitchen complements the rich Grigio Carnico marble on the island and backsplash. “The kitchen has a deliberately dark palette,” James says.

Barbara Hill designed this modern home in Atlanta, Georgia. Its informal dining space has a slightly rustic feel, sporting bronze and wood in the form of a Lindsey Adams Adelman chandelier for Roll & Hill.

In the dining area, Splügen Bräu pendant lamps for Flos hang over a Super-Elliptical table by Piet Hein and Bruno Mathsson for Fritz Hansen.

Instead of isolating the dining table and kitchen island, Aliabadi chose to raise the dining room floor in order to keep both surfaces the same height. The custom dining table is surrounded by Selene white leather chairs and an E23 wood bench. A lighting fixture from Royal Lighting hangs overhead.

A vintage Lightolier pendant and sleek Arclinea cabinets by Antonio Citterio stand out against a wall paneled in reclaimed pine in the kitchen. Seating is a mix of Bertoia wire chairs and armchairs by the Mexican designer Hector Esrawe.

A Design Within Reach table and Eames chairs create an open dining room off the kitchen. A Cord Pendant light by Brendan Ravenhill hangs from the ceiling.
