Easily-Portable Lights for Indoors and Outdoors
With the days getting shorter, homes may be suffering from an acute (and depressing) lack of illumination. These seven lights (which range from cutting-edge LEDs to old-fashioned candles) can quickly remedy any shortage of brightness, both within and without any dwelling.
The Ball Portable Outdoor LED Lamp ($119-$299) is another study in simplicity: waterproof and shockproof, these rechargeable LED lamps come in either 10, 14, or 20-inch diameters. Its elementary, spherical form translates to endless applications: arranged in patterns on a lawn, deployed within a pool, mounted atop a table (as seen here) and more. One charge means 8 to 10 hours of use.
Designed by Danish designer Christian Bjørn for Menu, the Lighthouse Oil Lamps present a visually satisfying outdoor fire option. The lamps are designed as tall, slightly flared cylindrical shapes, much like the lighthouses for which they are named. They are available in black and white finishes, in four sizes ranging from 9.6 inches to 30 inches tall.
