This Shining Seattle Home Revels in Bright Simplicity

This Shining Seattle Home Revels in Bright Simplicity

By Grace Miller
A streamlined material palette and crisp white interiors frame an art-filled home in the Pacific Northwest.

Designed for an artist and an engineer in a bungalow-filled neighborhood in downtown Seattle, the Artist Residence blends into its surroundings while providing a canvas for the residents’ eclectic style. The clients didn’t want their home to overpower the quaint neighborhood, so Heliotrope Architect scaled the project to fit discreetly into the residential street while maintaining a strong  presence.

Inside, the walls are bright white to accommodate the homeowners’ ever-expanding art collection, and the centerpiece of the home is a luminous design studio with soaring ceilings. Skylights and an internal courtyard fill the residence with natural light throughout the day.
