Concrete-look tile cladding on the fireplace is a smooth counterpoint to the reclaimed wood cabinets, which hide more party accoutrements. The wood-framed pool table also adds a rustic touch.
A large-scale sectional is perfect for watching sports and accommodating extra sleepover guests. On the opposite side of the room, sleek gray cabinetry in the kitchenette and bar hides an array of entertaining necessities, from refrigerator drawers and beverage coolers to shelving for glassware.
Architect CP Drewett took inspiration from rural buildings and shed-roof forms for the design of the new guest house. Bi-fold windows open the kitchenette and bar to the outdoors.

Timber beams are evident throughout. “The original post-and-beam structure was taken down, numbered, and reused within the new shell,” says Béliveau.
A grand space greets visitors when they first enter the home. The living room and kitchen are tucked on either side of a central dining area, which features a 35-foot-high wall of glass.
A wood bridge leads to the second-floor entry of the converted barn, which now offers 4,500-square feet of clean, modern interior space. The cladding is local hemlock spruce, the same local wood that was originally used to build the barn.
Tasked with creating a multi-use guest pavilion on a relatively small Northern California vineyard lot that could also host sit down dinners for up to 60 people, designers at Anderson Architects started by asking the key questions: “Where should it be within the property?” “How much floor area do we need for a 60 person dinner?” “How much volume do we need for a basketball court?” “We also always tell ourselves to look at the landscape first, let it dominate and lead it through.
