The living room is the one room in the house that feels particularly spacious thanks to its soaring ceiling. The original fireplace still works. A sofa designed by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, two Knoll stools, and a Ben Soleimani rug help furnish the space. Four doors in the house that lead to the outdoors create a strong connection to the environment.
“The owner is currently adjusting and curating the furniture from their large midcentury home in Connecticut to fit with their new Pacific Northwest home,” Weber noted. Double paned, trickle-vent windows show off the views during the day, while recessed lights by Sea Gull Lighting illuminate the home at night.
Since a sophisticated, modern look was imperative to the architectural design, the same was expected of the furnishings. A B&B Italia Charles sofa, chaise lounge, and Piccola Papilio chairs fill the living room. Trípode Floor Lamps by Santa & Cole frame the sofa.
Grossman's Grasshopper lamp remains one of the most popular midcentury lighting designs. Here, displayed in the Conran Shop, Marylebone, it is matched with a Piano Alto modular sofa and the Prism chandelier designed by Nathalie Dewez.
