In the 1950s, Ramat HaSharon, close to Tel Aviv, was home to numerous brutalist structures. There, architect Pitsou Kedem, craving the same style for his own family house, built it as two squares of concrete stacked atop each other. Materials like iron, wood, and silicate brick, along with a skylight that runs along the length of the stairwell, imbue it with a welcoming sense of earthiness.
Designed to sleep eight, the flexible cabin can be used as a quiet retreat for the couple or a gathering place for family and friends.
Steps away from the water, the back patio provides an incredible setting for entertaining.

The louvered facade on the north side of the home filters light and provides privacy from the street. Mechanically controlled window shades can be brought down at night for additional privacy and room darkening.
The bathroom features the same stone as the kitchen countertops, providing visual interest in the otherwise white bathroom.

Home to Greg Truen, director of South African architecture and design firm SAOTA, Kloof 119A is a 9,150-square-foot residence in Cape Town that takes advantage of mountain and city views while de-emphasizing the street and neighboring homes. Kitchen joinery was done by Roma Casa Kitchens. Clerestory windows allow mountain views and light to drench the space.
The new entry is divided from the kitchen and dining area by a fir screen. Wood cabinetry wraps the kitchen.

In the lofted study, a Rakks modular shelf system was recessed into the drywall and topped with laminate boards. A white oak ceiling and flooring are found throughout the home, adding warmth to the minimalist palette.
