A splash of dark green paint in the sleeping nook introduces an old world drama to the space. The paint color is Billiard Green from Sherwin Williams. The crochet pendant is from World Market, and the brass bull was an eBay find. The couple's dog Waylon lounges in the pull-out dog bed drawer.
The couple embraced simplicity and efficiency in the new kitchenette. Cabinets along with the countertop, sink, and faucet are all from IKEA. A collection of artworks and collectibles on the shelving are from Aaron Murray, Penny Plavidal, Brian Green, Cynthia Mulcahy, Camp Bosworth, and Hailey Vick.
Whitewashed pine walls and an exposed pine ceiling help soften the space, while artworks and vintage finds give it life. The black and white drawing is by Adam himself, and the couple found the hanging tumbleweed in a fence somewhere between Marfa and El Paso.
Curtis completely overhauled the shelving, changing the shapes of the niches and covering them in micro-cement.

It features a steel structure designed to hold a a heavier load than the average outdoor deck, and an integrated bench for one or more persons. Glass on all sides, including the top, enhances the user experience and makes the alcove a perfect spot to star gaze.
Phoenix design-build firm The Construction Zone renovated an old concrete-and-steel barn, turning it into a sleek new guesthouse with an open-plan, three-room layout. Completed for approximately $300,000, the 790-square-foot adaptive reuse project carefully preserves the character of the existing structure while upgrading it to match the modern aesthetic of the main residence.

A detachable shower head in the bathroom makes dog washing easier, and a composting toilet allows the owners to go off-the-grid for longer periods of time. Aside from that, walnut and marble accents — plus the same Corian Dune prima deep sink used in the kitchen — make the bathroom pretty, too. The shower tiles were found at Lowe's.

There is even an unobtrusive AC outlet tucked beneath the bathroom counter.
Another thoughtful detail is this outlet embedded in the eat/work bar, which is convenient to reach from the bed.
The solid walnut eat/work counter has two interior cabinets tucked underneath, as well as exterior hatch storage access. The Modern Caravan also outfitted the stools with new wood seats.

A simple, clean palette and double-duty lighting brighten up the entryway. Chioco selected a thin suspension light in brass from Juniper Lighting, a blue Scandinavian kilm runner from Black Sheep Unique, and a Danish bench from The Renner Project to cozy up the space.
The Inheritance sectional sofa in Green Canvas from Stephen Keen is one of the couple’s favorite pieces. “I like how it still has dimension but doesn't take up much space,” Bjorndahl says. There are also coffee tables from Stephen Kenn as well as a Haik Vintage area rug from Black Sheep Unique. The colors for the first floor, as well as the rest of the home, play off the couple's love of the Southwest.
Chioco says they “treated the stairs and structural beams as design elements, painting them a dark color to contrast with everything else to visually tie the space together.”
Brass lights from Apparatus Studio provide extra lighting in the bathroom. The space is complete with Alexander Marchant sinks and faucet, hardware from Schoolhouse Electric and the same cabinetry seen throughout the rest of the loft.
The design team transformed the master bathroom into a luxurious en suite with a white-and-black marble rain shower and multicolored his-and-hers robes from Austin's Hotel San Jose. The team also punched a window through the back wall of the office to allow natural light to permeate the room. “The window is switch glass and can be turned on and off for privacy while in the shower, but still provides a view of downtown.”
A modern cabin in Washington’s Methow Valley has a fireplace with glazing on to opposite sides, so its owners can watch the embers of the fireplace glowing from both indoors and out on the patio.
Sliding walls wallpapered with Pimpernell by William Morris separate the bathroom from the lounge/sleeping space.
In the shower, handmade Bubble Hex tile from the Futura collection at the Portland–based company Clayhaus Tile makes a stunning statement.
Attached to the pool is a single pitch steel-framed pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and dining area. The shelter provides additional outdoor living space for the family to congregate.
