  • Casey Lurie
    @caseylurie
    A Southern California native, Casey Lurie honed his aesthetic in art programs at Cal Arts and Northwestern University, but it wasn’t until he met Teruo Kurosaki, founder of the influential Japanese furniture brand Idée, that his true purpose took root. Jumping at the chance to live and work in Tokyo, Lurie left behind his workshop in downtown Los Angeles—where he had started developing his first design, a line of plywood furniture—and spent three years soaking up the culture in Japan. His Lap table and Primo shelving system are directly influenced by his time there: simple wood and metal components interlock without tools or hardware for a streamlined version of a household staple. Now based in Chicago, Lurie plans to turn his focus to an expanded line of pieces with interlocking parts.

    Hey I'm Vinnie! I'm a fun loving guy that likes to hang out in the hot tub on the weekends and after a long day at work. Nothing quite as relaxing as soaking in those waves with maybe a bottle of bubbly to drink and some female company :-) https://hottubhunter.com/

  • Dylan Gold
    @dylan_gold
    Dylan Gold creates unique hand-crafted furniture with a twist -- pieces that enhance the experience of your everyday life by challenging the mundane and conventional. His work is guided by three underlying principles: thought-provoking design, precision craftsmanship, and environmental awareness. The foundation for this outlook was laid early. As a child in San Diego, he excelled in the arts. His mother, a master of drawing, brushwork, and glass, fed this initial love with endless supplies, classes, and instruction, fostering a style and design methodology that permeate his work today. His parents were also proponents of conserving, composting, and re-using far before "green" was fashionable. After receiving a BA in Applied Art and Design from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he went to work as a graphic designer in the software industry. After several years in the corporate world he came to realize his creative drive was not satisfied by commercial art. In his free time, he sketched furniture designs. He had a seemingly endless stream of ideas, which he started producing in his living room and eventually in a shared shop space near his home in San Francisco. Finally, his day job proved too much. Disillusioned, he packed up and enrolled in a program to study furniture design with the old masters on a tiny Swedish island. After that, he traveled throughout Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, and Africa soaking up design techniques as well as inspiration from new cultures. The result? A return to the U.S. with a renewed focus on his goal: to create beautiful furniture pieces that take a refreshing look at the everyday objects that make up our living environment. With each piece, he strives to prove that functional pieces can be pushed beyond what you expect into the realm of the artistic and thought-provoking.
