Mary Beth Coyne Architecture's work seeks engagement with the land and environment, in pursuit of a sensuous modernity.  The haptic environment has been a focus of Mary Beth's study and work throughout her career and education.  In the management of projects, the studio approaches design attuned to the clients' desires, seeking a unique realization in form, light, and material responsive to site and climate.  Budget-driven project management and thoughtful, transparent communication are essential components of the design and construction process.  The studio has extensive experience with design of projects in cold and snowy alpine climates.  The urban aspect of the studio has significant experience with additions and renovations to historic residences in San Francisco, and the intricacies of the Planning and variance processes in the city.   Mary Beth has managed LEED certified and environmentally innovative projects, has studied with Passivehaus international and the Living Building Challenge, and seeks to incorporate sustainable building practices into her work.
