Pat Kim Design Tree Topper

For his sculptural, innovative take on the traditional Christmas tree topper, Brooklyn-based furniture designer Pat Kim revisited the story of the Magi, the Three Wise Men who traveled after the birth of Jesus to bring him gifts. The four elements each symbolize a different element of the story: The teardrop-shaped maple base that sits on top of the tree represents the swaddled baby Jesus; the leather disk symbolizes the star that guided the Magi; the brass arc traces their journey; and the oak cube represents the gifts of the Magi.
