Menu Afteroom Plus Barstool
Stockholm-based designers Chen-Yen Wei and Hung-Ming Chen have always been drawn to slim metal stools, but when they couldn’t find one with a backrest, they decided to design their own. They quickly discovered that attaching the backrest to the seat would mean having to enlarge the seat so users don’t feel crowded. Unwilling to sacrifice the sleek lines they love, the designers mounted the backrest on a stem that runs through the frame. The innovative backrest on the Afteroom Plus Stool (2018) leaves the occupant with plenty of room for a variety of sitting positions, while also doubling as a stretcher to stabilize the frame. "Every part of this stool serves a structural purpose," says Hung-Ming. "It’s the most minimal form we could create and yet it’s incredibly stable." Made in Latvia.
