Israeli studio Producks and textile designer Mika Barr collaborated on Poli, a seating system upholstered with synthetic patterned textile that produces eye-catching folds and angles once it's been occupied.

The Pick Up Sticks Lounge Chair is a balanced piece of furniture that can be used in a living room or den, or can be used as an occasional chair in a home office or bedroom. Designed by Simon James for Resident, the Pick Up Sticks was produced out of a need for a comfortable armchair with its upholstered component produced separately from the frame. This enables efficient production, and makes the chair easier to clean and transport.

Elegant and timeless, the Kiki collection of furniture was created by legendary Finnish designer Ilmari Tapiovaara in 1960. For the Kiki Sofa, Tapiovaara envisioned a clean, minimal sofa that could be integrated into any existing environment. Plush yet refined, the Kiki Sofa is crafted with lacquered or chrome steel tubing and features an upholstered soft polyurethane foam cushion in inviting wool or elegant leather.

Hem's new modular sofa, Palo, can be configured as a single-seater, a two-seater, a corner sofa, a lounger, or an ottoman. Thanks to an innovative frame featuring removable struts, its cushions and armrests can be easily added, removed or rearranged to fit your mood. The wool upholstery is manufactured in Norway.

The Last Aphid woven upholstery, sourced from the Charley Harper archives and produced by Designtex, depicts four ladybugs poised to devour an aphid. The fabric, which can work for commercial interiors, is 71% Polyester (Postconsumer Recycled), 20% Nylon (Solution Dyed), 9% Polyester.

Scholten & Baijings first pieces for their Blocks & Grid upholstery collection for Maharam launched in 2014; look for more introductions coming down the pipeline in 2015. Michael Maharam initiated the concept for Phaidon's book. In conversation with the book's editor, Louise Schouwenberg, he writes, "Scholten & Baijings might be described as the Dutch Muji on the basis of the pleasantly universal and useful character of their designs. Importantly, they bring unexpected and striking color to the mix and couple it with a studied approach to pattern."

Blocks and Grids by Scholten and Bajings for Maharam Dutch designers Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings drew inspiration from color blocking and ‘70s fashion for their new collaboration with the esteemed textile house Maharam, an exercise in layering and transparency that required experimentation at the TextielLab in Tilburg, the Netherlands. In the basement lounge area under the stairs, Lee had a giant sofa is upholstered in 18 Peruvian blankets that JHID collected over several months. The paintings are by Heather Watkins, a Portland artist. The coffee table is custom design in solid fir, which adds a lighter counterpoint to the Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal paint used in the alcove.

In the snug rear lounge, the banquettes are fitted with upholstery made by local artisans.

“Instead of using a typical frame system, we created frameless windows by burying aluminum channels into the floors and walls,” says Richard. “It kept our glazing budget much lower than normal.” The sofas feature custom upholstery by Inverse Project and HDM.

Custom-made by JHID in collaboration with The Works Construction and Trio Upholstery, the wraparound sofa features emerald-green, cotton velvet upholstery by Maharam. The wall sconce is by Allied Maker, and the ceiling mount lighting is by Illuminate Vintage.

The minimalist boat is fitted with bespoke wall sconces and custom-made upholstery.

In the living area, Jeremy, left, and Joe relax on a green Muuto sectional. “We never would have chosen it on our own,” says Joe, extending praise to their architects for nudging them to take chances. “Now we can’t imagine any other sofa. It’s perfect.” The velvet sofa upholstery in Moss is from Knoll, while the rug is from Armadillo.

In an experimental move, the designers used different upholstery for the sectional. Colorful stripes and baby blue complement the cool gray tones.

For his bedroom, Max designed a custom headboard insulated with several layers of cotton and upholstery fabric to reduce sound.

In one of the two bedrooms, a Wright-designed bed, nightstands, upholstery, and built-in desk remain. All of the furniture was included with the sale of the home.

The family sat on two dozen different sofas trying to find the right mix of comfort and sleekness before deciding custom was the way to go. A deep-cushioned, slim-backed piece—built by Luke Parsons Millwork—fits just right and somehow makes the whole space just seem bigger. It also features pull-out footstools, a coffee table and concealed storage for blankets. Custom upholstery is by The Big Stuff.

The dining space is located at the front of the trailer. The chevron flooring is Oak Fortress Rochesta by Kaindl and the upholstery is by Joybird.

Felt wool upholstery was partout at Maison & Objet, covering everything from statement pieces like these sofas ar Arper to vases to dining room chairs typically seen in plywood. Except for a few gray felt pieces, most of the upholstery is being done in very rich color tones, which is a nice departure from safe, classic monochrome.

The children’s bedroom opens to the aquaponics pond. The custom upholstery is from South Pacific Fabrics and the blue pillow is from MissoniHome. On the floor is a Moroccan Boucherouite rug.

The upholstery fabric is Gentle Dream Cargo by Robert Allen. All the lights in the Airstream have been custom made by Worley's Lighting.

Built-in storage lines the master bedroom. The headboard and bed frame are also custom units from Mecanismo, fashioned from oak, brass, and Kvadrat upholstery.

The pill-shaped Hole bench by Estudio Persona features a seat of generously stuffed white upholstery punctuated by two circular openings.
