The holistic LIVE IN also incorporates space for practical necessities, like sleep.

Intimate nooks, set amid curvaceous shapes, diffused lighting, and colorful accents, provide a place for rest and recreation. The various levels, including the netting above, playfully engage the space.

The exhibition graphics employ a customized headline typeface developed by Project Projects. The painted floor graphic shows the shape of Roosevelt Island (in orange) and the extent of the pneumatic tube system (in white).

A demonstration pneumatic tube system ran throughout the exhibition, so visitors could better understand the technology.

The firm's work also includes exhibition and logo design. They handled both for the exhibition 'Fast Trash,' which spotlights the pneumatic trash disposal system used on Roosevelt Island since 1975.

Here's the Michael Graves Design Toaster which is made from stainless steel and has a copper handle. Strum described how copper is a common material in kitchenware and how his team wanted to nod to the metal in the toaster design. The little toast icon is actually an digital display that counts down as your bread toasts.

The Two-Slice toaster for JCP is one of Graves's new designs, at once playful and functional.

Though burnt toast has its proponents, most people prefer a perfectly crisp, lightly browned slice. Cue the world’s first see-through toaster, designed for peeking.

Grace Hawthorne of Paper Punk led a weekend-long interactive exhibit in which attendees used pieces from her Urban Fold Kit to build a giant, paper metropolis.

Muyum is a Tatabi Studio project that encourages children to consume healthy foods. Includes eye stickers for the fruit, individual packages for sliced fruit, patterned paper, and easy-to-assemble boxes to make lemonade with real lemons (shown here).

The Balena Project evolved out of a conversation Scott had with Graypants and Kurt Wolken of Studio Gypsies. "We just started trash talking—literally talking about oceanic trash and crazy ways to clean it up. An hour later, I was back at my office storyboarding the imagery. Basically, we wanted to look at the problem of plastic debris in our oceans and render it visible in a way that it becomes as much performance art as it is activism. Right now, the problem sits just below the surface. We want people to be confronted by that—but not in a way that makes them so uncomfortable they run. We wanted people running to the problem."

Machnik has a robust residential portfolio and an international client list. His design philosophy is "uber-minimalist" and modern, with heavy Bauhaus influences. He lives and works with his partner, artist Lonney White, whose work can be seen on the wall. Leading from the communal pool area to the more intimate olive tree grove, the intricate “woven” ipe boardwalk plays with a variety of lineweights and patterns. All of the wood used for the project is reclaimed.

Upon entering the exhibition, visitors are greeted by Dutch design studio Unfold’s Kiosk Project that imagines a future where digital printing booths stand next to fast food stalls on city street corners. The idea being that customers will be able to use the Kiosk for a number of instances including getting a bespoke fix for a broken heel or printing out a last minute gift for a friend.

They also designed two books for the Princeton Architectural Press' new series Inventory Books.
