“I wanted something bold and fresh,” Augustin says of the unit’s citrus-inspired front door, painted Tangerine Dream by Dunn Edwards. The door is flanked by horizontal Redwood slats and gray acrylic stucco.

A couple enlist Butler Armsden Architects and Leverone Design to reimagine their home as a multigenerational meeting point. In 1963, landscape designer Lawrence Halprin devised a master plan for a community that would live in harmony with the natural environment. The resulting Sea Ranch, which stretches 10 miles along the Pacific coastline in Sonoma County, California, is characterized by timber-frame, wood-clad structures that are in dialogue with the local climate and terrain. Sited on a bluff within this pioneering community is the vacation home of a lawyer couple. After purchasing the residence in 2007, they lived in the home as it was for four years, even keeping the previous owners’ furniture. Envisioning a retreat that would accommodate their extended family and guests, they then recruited Butler Armsden Architects and Leverone Design to help guide the project.

Augustin spent $6200 on concrete floors, which included the new slab and the control joins, as well as grinding, polishing, and sealing. “We just put one layer of sealer on and they ground it down a bit,

The addition’s two stories of cedar-framed sliding doors and window provide generous views of the house’s prized jacaranda tree. The addition’s polished concrete floor and white cladding extend into the garden, drawing occupants to the serene rear porch. There, they can relax on stools designed by Alvar Aalto and Charles Wilson while admiring the luscious greenery.

BeoVision Avant 75" by Bang & Olufsen At CES, there was no shortage of big news about the small screen. Sony released an ultra-thin 4K model (a smartphone is actually thicker than its .25-inch silhouette), technology mastermind Yves Behar created a curved screen for Samsung, and there was even a bendable option. We tend to lean toward the practical, covetable, and design-conscious tech options and B&O just added a 75-inch model to its family of ultra high-definition 4K televisions. The amount of 4K content available isn't too ample yet, but there's more and more available, even from streaming services like Netflix which is adding devices to its compatibility list (B&O isn't listed…yet). But the TV is perched on a handsome stand— which is actually a subwoofer—and the screen is on a programmable mechanism to allow you to rotate it with the touch of a button (you can also create presets so it remembers your preferences). B&O designed the BeoVision Avant with modern, open-plan spaces in mind: it's unobtrusive when not in use (just call your own personal Ad Reinhardt) and flexible when it needs to be. This'll set you back about $17,000.

The bar showcases many green products. The bar top, made at the 19 greek street gallery, is fashioned from recycled glass, and the chairs, from both Out of the Dark and Studio deForm, are fashioned from upcycled material.

According to Ndoro, LIBRARY will “provide a much-needed space for the pioneering design community of the capital and beyond.” This room features a collection of eclectic Middle Eastern and African pieces, according to 19 greek street founder and creative director Marc Peridis. The curvaceous M'Afrique Shadowy Chair by Moroso is made by Senegalese craftsman, the rug and vases are fashioned from recycled African fabric. The two Papillon chairs near the window are by Karen Chekerdjian, a designer based in Lebanon.

The entryway leads into the living room, and a low wall hides the staircase that leads to the lower level from view.
