Maya Sheinberger redesigned the MG House so that each floor would be more cohesive. The first floor was developed alongside the landscape design, the second floor shifts according to the family's needs, and the eldest daughter lives on the third floor.

What everyday item would you like to see made domestically? Having more electronic manufacturing in the USA would make it easier for startups to prototype, make rapid adjustments to the product, and scale up quickly. Some of this has started to happen with reshoring from Asia due to the rising transportation costs and overseas labor costs, as well as the need for more flexible manufacturing. Bringing back a single product like the iPhone would bring a significant number of jobs back to the U.S. and help reestablish the working middle class in America. The best place in the city to find knick nacks and jewelry, Greenmarket Square is also one of your best bets for picking up traditional textiles. During our recent trip we were able to find everything from children’s patterned dresses from the Congo to colorful swatches from Malawi. However, if you’re going to venture don’t go wide-eyed—this will be your best place to haggle for a good deal.

The extensive use of natural wood on nearly every surface makes the inside of The Barn feel like an extension of the landscape outside.
