For the Planar Chair, BSC attempted to reduce the chair typology to the fewest planes possible "according to its geometry, function, and use." The firm writes, "While the planes are expressed as simple rectangles, their orientation in space registers the non-Cartesian angles of the human body at rest. The planes intersect equally, so that no plane dominates the others. This intersection of planes, isolated from their infinite projections, illustrates the geometric event."

Here's a detail shot of the stool. The leather comes in four options—black, chocolate, tobacco, and saddle—and the brightly hued backing fabric comes in ten—sky, radish, egg yolk, cream, camel, charchol, sand, mocha, chocolate, and black.

Inspirational spaces

Because their loft is a rental, David and Im Schafer built everything to be removable.

BSC designed suspended powder-coated and walnut open shelves to demarcate the kitchen from the rest of the living space. The detailing on the cast-iron columns inspired the perforated pattern of the semi-transparent screens.

Nestled within a forest clearing near the Argentinian city of Córdoba, this 2,153-square-foot house named "La Negrita" is designed to exist in harmony with nature. Designed by Córdoba–based Morini Arquitectos, the house first reveals itself as a black corrugated wall in the middle of the woodlands. "The house is totally introverted [and] mysterious towards the street and extroverted towards the interior," says Morini.

Five cabins are located in the pine forest surrounding the main house. “The design for both the main house and cabins at Saltwater Farm resulted from studying traditional Pacific Northwest cabins and refining that vernacular language with one of Scandinavian minimalism,” says designer Taylor Bode.
