The Berlin Elevations Architectural Print celebrates building from the German capital, including iconic structures alongside lesser known places, focusing on the often overlooked details that comprise the modern urban experience. This print provides architectural drawings of five of Berlin’s buildings— Brandenburger Tor, Berliner Siegesäule, Am Kupfergraben 10, Berliner Fernsehturm, and Neue Nationalgalerie.

From Sweden’s studio esinam, the Elevations Architectural Print Series is a thoughtful collection of portraits of famous international cities. In architectural drawings, elevations are flat representations of the façade of a building, showing a complete view of one building’s side. The Paris Elevations Architectural Print includes architectural drawings of five buildings—Sacré-Cœur, Palais Garnier, Arc de Triomphe, Pont Marie, and Centre Georges Pompidou.

No whiteware here. In this moody apartment in Berlin, multi-toned charcoal gray subway tiles make up the backsplash, which contrasts with the pop of rosy color on the kitchen cabinets.

Durable, economical, and easy to build, the simple A-frame was once the must-have midcentury vacation home. The old wood floors throughout the open-plan space are painted a dark eggplant. The vintage PP19 armchair is by Hans J. Wegner for PP Møbler. The painting above it is by Ruben Toledo, a friend of Peter Fehrentz, the resident. A trio of Tom Dixon lights hangs over the Pirkka dining table, with bench seating by Ilmari Tapiovaara for Artek. The Berber rug is from Morocco, purchased from the Paris shop Caravane.

All of the Jenn-Air appliances, including the washer and dryer, are electric, as the owners asked the city to cut the gas line to the house. The kitchen cabinetry is from IKEA and features custom, matte-gray doors and Silestone countertops. The floorboards are reclaimed maple from an old tire factory, sanded and stained gray.

Red Bull Framed Print – Menagerie Collection, $265 at the Dwell Store This framed print from illustrator and designer Mark McGinnis will make a great addition to an office. The print blends screen printing and hand-drawing to create a one-of-a-kind piece of wall art.

Walter Gropius designed the F-51 armchair for the director's room at the Bauhaus in Weimar. Filled with polyurethane foam, the armchair fabric or leather coated armchair is supported by an ash or maple frame.

The Stockholm Elevations Architectural Print includes architectural drawings of five buildings—the Kaknästornet, City Hall, City Library, Concert Hall, and the Stortorget. This large print is available in an unframed version, or a rich maple, modern black, or sleek white frame. A limited edition of 1,000 prints, each Stockholm Elevations Print is numbered. It can be used as a standalone print, or alongside other studio esinam prints to create a global, architectural art tribute.

Located in Denmark, Kristina Dam Studio is a multifaceted design studio founded by designer Kristina Dam. The studio is focused on connecting the worlds of graphic design, interior spaces, and art. Shown here in By Lassen’s Illustrate Frames alongside the View Mirror, Kristina Dam’s architectural prints are striking accents that blend digital printing and hand drawing. Her framed prints include the Abstraction House, Danish House, Finn Juhl House, Mountain House, Simpel House, and Tree House Illustrations.

In the Danish House Illustration, Kristina Dam Studio celebrates Danish architect and designer Finn Juhl. A part of the “An Abstraction of FJ” series, this print is defined by its use of line, geometric details, and pattern. The series is based on multiple hand drawings she created while studying the work of Finn Juhl. Kristina Dam called to Juhl’s use of curved lines in his designs, which is clearly celebrated here in the House Print.

Set on a green-blue background, the Tree House Illustration from Kristina Dam Studio is comprised of patterned lines, angles, and geometric shapes to create the appearance of a modern home, curving front stairway, and surrounding trees. The result is a composed illustration that looks both architectural and abstract, depending on how it is viewed.

The copper-colored leather pouffe is one of 48 DIY projects featured in Fehrentz’s book, Made by Yourself. The English edition will be published in 2014.

A polished concrete floor was selected for its durability. Using a design move inspired by Japanese architecture, Bruzkus introduced a change in height to help separate the sleeping area from the living area.

The result: a house that looks like it’s just been dropped into a field, casual, with nary a path leading up to it and a front door that can barely be detected on the red-cedar-shingled facade.

Adding 290 square feet to this already small (just 566 square feet) black A-frame in Brecht, Belgium, was all the local building ordinances allowed, but the architects at dmvA found that a single wing extended out to the side gave resident Rini van Beek all the storage and living space that she needs.

DAVID CHIPPERFIELD "First his studio, then his home. David Chipperfield chose Berlin, after the city commissioned him to rebuild the Neues Museum in 1997. It is in the same neighborhood, Mitte. In the courtyard that contains both his house and his studio, Chipperfield also designed a canteen, a place where locals meet. The house is built of concrete, with large windows overlooking the street and the courtyard. It contains a few ‘50s and ‘60s Italian furnishings, and two colours. A third of the house and deck cantilever out toward the stream, and the void beneath the deck provides a place for wood storage. The cabin sits just 100 feet from the water, and with the windows open you can hear the ambient rush of the stream from throughout the house.

The Alerce shingles change color when it rains, moving from red to grey. “It’s alive,” says Marambio.

By using color, wood, and polished concrete floors, this apartment in Berlin is full of personality. In the kitchen, polished statuario marble covers both the island's countertop and the backsplash in the custom kitchen cabinet block. PSLAB designed the light fixtures, and the island has open shelving incorporated into it for easy access to cookbooks and other reading material.

The cozy bedroom is clad in oiled oak.

Surman Weston delivers a contemporary twist on the mock-Tudor style with minimalist interiors and intricate brickwork.

Sited parallel to each other, the two autonomous bedroom cabins frame perspectival views of the surrounding landscape. Exteriors of all three structures feature mitered corners and cross-laminated timber panels, all nailed by hand.
