Although Design Army is a technologically cutting edge design firm, projects still need to be handcrafted sometimes. An upper shelf holds their design awards overflow from the conference room and Pum's hats add a bit of swagger to the red head mannequins above.

When serendipity meets design. Shot around D.C., Design Army's "In Wonderland" series was a pro bono project for the Washington Ballet's new production of Alice in Wonderland.

The Art Center College for Design, based in Pasadena, packed its booth full of design goodies, from the heavily engineered (breathing mask, powder-coated steel stool for toddlers) to the organic (wooden lights, a pair of sandals flatcut from a piece of leather).

Trinity College Long Room in Dublin, Ireland-Ireland's oldest university, Trinity College, is also the location of the largest library in Ireland. The oldest and rarest of its collection is housed in the Long Room, the largest single-chamber library in the world with over 200,000 volumes preserved inside. Nendo envisions that designers and manufacturers who acquire the licenses for these designs can develop multiple variations with the objects.

The new cabins reduce the key form of the Cape Cod–style structures found on the campus. They sport the telltale pitched roof, wood exterior, and central chimney, but feature a more contemporary feeling. The interiors are restrained, yet comfortable and warm thanks to white pine walls and a slate tile floor.

The best furniture stores are the ones you want to live in. This is true of Paul Gelinas and Li Ruofan's Lost and Found, which features cozy pieces inspired by Beijing's past.

One-Family Custom Housing: The five Marlboro Music cottages at Vermont's Marlboro College provide residential space for musicians. The understated design by HGA Architects and Engineers references the history of Cape Cod architecture, while indigenous materials and small scale help the houses blend in with the surrounding landscape.
