The first floor is constructed primarily from sawara cypress, a species of wood native to central Japan this is cultivated for its high-quality timber.

The Cor-Ten steel of the front facade wraps around the roof, the chimney, and a dormer, lending a sculptural aesthetic.

Mudroom. The bench was created from reclaimed wood taken out of the home at demo. The vintage rug is from Kazakhstan, by way of the local flea market. Supreme SB's and gold loafers...a typical mix in our home! Finally, "Portland is cooler than Brooklyn"........when we were living in Portland, this was an easy one. Now that I spend more time in Brooklyn....perhaps I need to reconsider.....
