Jonathan+Olivia Transplanted from the original Vancouver location, this designer clothing boutique brings with it an air of sophistication to the Ossington strip. Local designers like Horses Atelier share space with international labels such as Isabel Marant, Helmut Lang, and Rag & Bone.

“I think from the outset when we were talking about the addition, there was this idea that it would be mod and contemporary and spliced into the old house,” says Dean. The thin wood slats that surround the back half of the home bridge divide between old and new, nodding to the existing building’s white wood-trim detailing.

The Frigidaire Flair oven is original to the 1963-built home. The iconic cooker was introduced in 1962, when Frigidaire was a subsidiary of General Motors. It has appeared in the classic 60s TV series Bewitched as well as modern throwback Mad Men.

When completed in 2013, the project achieved LEED Gold certification; its interior layouts eliminated the need for an elevator or internal hallways, and was outfitted with Energy Star appliances, low VOC paint and finishes, and radiant heating.
