For cosmetics company CO/CO, Tatabi created the branding and packaging design. Taking a cue from nature, the simple packaging almost transforms the beauty goods to food products.

The kitchen is a miracle of efficiency, with Antonio Citterio’s Convivium system for Arclinea shoehorned into a tight galley layout. The built-in Miele oven has storage above, and the Sub-Zero drawers are far less bulky than a freestanding refrigerator. The Carrara marble countertop and backsplash were custom cut by Brooklyn’s Acme Marble Co.

Acme Studio was founded in 1985 by husband-and-wife team Adrian Olabuenaga and Lesley Bailey. The first limited-edition collection was done in collaboration with Los Angeles-based artist and Memphis Group member Peter Shire. Shire's Skyhook brooch is especially kicky: Its two parts connect with a chain.

The Euphoria necklace by the father of Memphis, Ettore Sottsass. After the success of Shire's collection for Acme Studio, the owners went to meet Sottsass in Milan along with the rest of the Memphis group. The resulting collection, which comprises over 100 designs, is now once again for sale. All are available only while supplies last, so get 'em before they're gone!

The Loretto brooch by Gerard Taylor for Acme Studio is less overtly Memphis, perhaps a more suitable choice for the trepidatious.

Cutting boards by Reykjavik Trading Co.-Designer Anthony Bacigalupo grew up in a very different environment from the one he now calls home. With the culture, climate, and aesthetics of central California as early reference he and his Icelandic girlfriend Ýr Káradóttir now combine a nowhere-but-there Pacific Coast aesthetic with vintage Icelandic design. "Our focus is on sustainability,” explained Bacigalupo. “Our serving boards are painted with natural and food-safe milk paint." The color-blocked oak boards made it on to my mental wish list. Would I use them for their intended purpose? Maybe not, but just like many of the products from companies Bacigalupo has worked with before (Apple, Bang and Olufsen), there is a certain must-have quality to them.
