BMW designed and developed the i3 as an electric vehicle from the ground up. It has a carbon-fiber body shell—the same material used in high-performance bicycles—that’s 1,000 pounds lighter than a steel version. The car can go up to 100 miles between charges, more than enough for the typical city driver, according to pilot-program research. Added bonus: The i3 can parallel park itself. Extending the art-as-mirror metaphor across a storied museum space, designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby built a pair of massive kinetic mirrors that will bend and distort the way viewers encounter the Raphael Gallery.
As an example of IFTTT as “digital duct tape”, BMW’s “Warm Welcome Home” Applet opens the garage door as soon as the car pulls into the driveway, turns the house lights on and sets the Nest Thermostat to 72.

The living room in the original house has Victorian details, but the furniture—vintage Bertoia chairs, a Gloss floor lamp by Pablo Pardo, and a Norm 03 Steel Pendant Lamp by Normann Copenhagen—brings the look up to date.
Accessible only by foot, the On Mountain Hut is sited on Piz Lunghin, or “the roof of Europe,” the continent’s only triple watershed. Water here flows into the Danube, Rhine, and Po rivers.
The bespoke brass dressing room unit in the principal suite has a pivoting double-sided mirror and individual hanging slots for feature pieces. It was designed by PO Box Designs and crafted by Koorool Constructions.
Perhaps the structure’s most impressive feature is a wall-mounted BMW M1 hanging in the basement—a carefully completed job that securely bolted the engineless sports car to the wall. A custom lift carries vehicles between the structure's three levels.
